Oven to air fryer
Convert any conventional-oven recipe to an air-fryer time and temperature — with the reasoning shown, so you know why, not just what.
Why these numbers
- An air fryer is a compact convection oven — its fan drives much more heat onto the food, so the same dish cooks hotter and faster at a lower dial setting.
- Temperature: 400°F in the oven, drop about 25°F, so set the air fryer to 375°F.
- Time: 25 min in the oven, cut about 20%, so start with about 20 min.
- Shake or turn the food about halfway through so it browns evenly.
- Air-fryer models vary, so start checking a few minutes early — it is a short step from golden to too dark.
Rule of thumb: drop the oven temperature about 25°F (15°C) and cut the time about 20%, then check early. It is a starting point, not a guarantee.
